Notice from the Director of Thailand National Tourism Bureau

Dear friends,

From 22 May, 2014, Thailand will be formally governed by the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO). On behalf of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, we would like to assure you that the current political situation will not affect Thailand's tourism industry.

Daily life in Bangkok and across Thailand will continue as normal. However a curfew from 22:00 to 05:00 am will continue for the time being. The NCPO has announced this curfew is a temporary measure. Thailand tourism and services will operate as normal, but business hours have been adjusted in accordance with the curfew.

Bangkok and all airports in Thailand, all inter-city transportation, including mass transfer systems, roads, railways, water transport are operating as usual. All airports are open and greet the arrival of all scheduled flights and charter flights normally. However running times of other means of transport have been adjusted to match curfew regulations. For passengers taking flights during the curfew they may reach the airport by designated taxis which provide 24-hour service.

We are closely monitoring the situation in Thailand and wish to inform all tourists and tour operators that all Thailand public and private service providers will make the greatest efforts in this particular period to facilitate the tourists to ensure a minimal impact on their travel plans.

We continue to extend a warm welcome to all tourists to Thailand!

Thawatchai Arunyik

Director, Thailand National Tourism Bureau
