Below is an introduction to the cover you will receive when booking Huatai Insurance online.

Introduction to Overseas Travel Insurance by Huatai Insurance:

  1. 1. Spring Airlines Overseas Travel Insurance (one-way domestic departure)

Coverage becomes effective when the insured is holding a boarding pass for the designated Spring Airlines flight and goes through the security check; until the destination airport is reached and baggage claimed. In the event of “Accidental Death and Disablement” or “Hospital Treatment” , Huatai Insurance will pay for the sum insured for “Accidental Death” specified under the insurance contract, “Accidental Disablement” according to the proportion of physical disability, or “Accidental Medical Expense” with corresponding amount of sum insured. When suffering “Baggage Loss/Delay”, “Flight Delay”, “Baggage Delay”, “Travel Cancellation” and “Personal Liability”, Huatai Insurance will pay for the sum specified in the insurance contract.

  2. 2. Spring Airlines overseas travel insurance (round-trip domestic departure):

Coverage for the insured is the period during which the insured takes the Spring Airlines flight as a passenger from domestic origin to an overseas destination and returns, from the first day of the insurance period under the insurance policy, or within the insurance period the insured departs either their domestic residence or place of work for their overseas destination, or a later departure from the passenger's place of work; until the expiration of the insurance period under the insurance policy and insurance certificate, or when the insured returns from their overseas travel destination to their domestic residence or place or work (whichever occurs first). Within the insurance period, in the event of “Accidental Death”, “Disablement” or “Hospital Treatment”, Huatai Insurance will pay for the insured the amount specified in the insurance contract, “Disablement” benefits according to the proportion of physical disability, or “Accident Medical Expense” with corresponding amount of sum insured. In addition, benefits such as “Overseas Emergency Medical Evacuation”, “Repatriation of Remains”, “Compassionate Visit”, “Travel Delay or Cancellation”, “Baggage Loss and Damage”, “Document Replacement”, and “Personal Liability” which results from accidental indemnity will all be underwritten by Huatai Insurance. All insurance sums stated above are restricted by the amount specified in the insurance contract.

Insurance Cancellation Provisions

  1. 1. Customers who cancel (i) insurance for one-way flights or (ii) insurance for round-trip flights where the outbound flight departing a mainland China airport is cancelled will be refunded with both flight and insurance. Insurance liability ends.

2. Customers who cancel return flights that have already purchased round trip flight insurance will not be refunded with insurance premium.

3. No cancellation can be made after insurance becomes effective.

4. In the event of insurance cancellation, insurance can only be refunded with a departure flight ticket.

Change of Insurance Period

  1. 1. If customer changes his forward flight to another one before boarding, then the insurance commencement time changes. The insurance period stays the same.

  2. For example: a customer purchases Shanghai-Ibaraki flight on 6 January, returning on 9 January with a 1-4 day Personal Accident Insurance. If the outbound flight is changed to 7 January, then insurance coverage becomes effective as of 7 January and the period of validity remains four days.

  3. 2. Spring Airlines will not alter insurance period for any reasons that may cause trip delay or curtailment. Insurance premium will not be refunded.

For example: customer purchases Shanghai-Ibaraki flight on 6 January, returning on 9 January with a 1-4 day Personal Accident Insurance. If the return flight is changed to 10 January, then the period of validity is still four days (6 January - 9 January).

For example: If a customer books Shanghai- Ibaraki flight on 6 January, returning on 10 January with a 5-8 day aviation Personal Accident Insurance, then s/he changes his/her return flight on 9 Jan.No insurance alteration will be made; the underwriting period remains 6 January to 10 January.

Note: the insurance period refers to days of insurance: 1-4 days, 5-8 days, and 9-14 days.
