Prohibited carry-on items

Sharp objects, such as scissors and knives, and potentially dangerous weapons, such as golf clubs, are not allowed on board. It is prohibited by law to bring cutlery on board. Violations are subject to a fine of up to 500,000 yen.

Please check in the following items at the check-in counter.

  1. Cutlery and other objects that can be used as a deadly weapon by hitting someone hard

  2. Items with a noticeably sharp tip

  3. Other potentially deadly weapons

Carry-on baggage restrictions

Lighters

  1. One smoking lighter per person is allowed.

    On flights departing from China, matches are prohibited on board under the direction of the Chinese authorities (General Administration of Civil Aviation).

  2. Oil lighters and pre-mixing lighters (Turbo lighters, jet lighters, blue flame lighters, and other types that emit blue or powerful flames) are prohibited in carry-on baggage.

E-cigarettes, smokeless tobacco and heated tobacco

(e-cigars, e-pipes, other personal vaporizers, IQOS, etc.)

Electronic cigarettes with lithium-ion batteries are not permitted in checked baggage so please include them in your carry-on baggage. However, it cannot be used on board.

Large tripods

Items longer than 60 cm in length when folded are prohibited on board.

Scissors

  1. You are allowed to bring on board an object with a blunt tip and a blade no larger than 6 cm.

  2. You are allowed to bring on board cosmetic scissors, such as small eyebrow and nose scissors, and scissors for portable sewing sets.

Liquids

For information on flights departing from Japan, please check the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism website.

  1. Any liquid in containers larger than 100 ML (G) even if partially filled will not be permitted on board.

  2. For carry-on items, place in a container no larger than 100 ML (G) and place in a zip lock clear plastic bag no larger than 1 L. Only one zip lock bag is allowed per person.

    Please prepare a clear plastic bag with a zipper by yourself.

  3. Even if the container is 100 ML (G) or smaller, if it is not in a clear plastic zip lock bag, or if it cannot be sealed, it will not be permitted on board.

  4. If you have a container larger than 100 ML (G) or do not have it in a plastic zip lock bag, you may discard the liquid or place it in your checked baggage. This also includes aerosols and gels (toothpaste, hair gel, etc.)

  5. At the security checkpoint, all liquids, aerosols and gels in your carry-on baggage must be separately presented for screening.

Checked baggage restrictions

Liquor and beverages

Liquids purchased at duty-free shops at the airport of departure can be treated as carry-on baggage, therefore they must not exceed the 7 kg carry-on baggage allowance. Depending on the alcohol content of the liquor, it may fall under dangerous goods.

  1. Alcohol content of 24% -70%: maximum 5L per passenger.

  2. Alcohol over 70%, not permitted because it falls under dangerous goods.

  3. Alcohol must be sealed in retail packaging. . If the packaging is changed, it is not permitted on board.

Seafood, pickles, and other items with the risk of leakage

  1. When you check in seafood, pickles, etc., make sure they are fully sealed so there is no risk of leakage.

  2. Items that include seawater are not permitted as either checked baggage or carry-on baggage.
